Writing a poetry |
In this writing, you are going to know some interesting and fun things about a poetry.
In English literature, both word of "poet" and "poetry" are noun. They are similar but have a different meaning.
Poet is the person who writes. Poetry is the creation. Hence you can say: "A poet makes a poetry".
Some knowledges about poetry:
1. Interestingly enough, a poetry is usually using a lot of metaphors. (Click here to know what metaphor is).
If you believe that a picture paints thousand words. You also may believe that a metaphor paints thousand pictures.
2. To make it more artistic you can use a "noun" word as a "verb" word as what William Shakespeare did.
For example: "zest" is a noun. It means passion, vigor, and so on. You may use it as a verb like "Zest with the Fire."
William Shakespeare: widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. |
Do you know that actually sometimes you use it in daily life?
There is a American Digital Video Recorder company named "Tivo". It is very famous in USA until people use it not just as a noun but also a verb.
Sometimes you can heard people say "I Tivo my stuff.", "I Tivo my television.", and so on.
Tivo, Inc introduced in 1999 |
3. While you are reading or writing a poetry, you engange your linguistic and creative part of the brain all together which are very good for the person who write or read it.
Left brain for the linguistic and right brain for the creativity.
Some collections of the writer's poetries that may give you inspiration:
- "The First Rhymes" (The First Poetry that the writer made)
- "Roman-O-Logy" (A Distinct Combination of Poetry, Romance, and Mathematics)
- "Thou, Sweetheart!" (A Pure Romantic Poetry)
- " If " (A Casual Romantic Poetry)
